Convection vaporizer instructions

Operating instructions: Taming manual convection

What is a Dreamwood convection vaporizer?

With our devices, your material isn't roasted by contact with a heating surface (conduction), but rather extracted by a hot airflow (convection). You generate this heat manually with a jet lighter. The result: pure flavor and maximum efficiency in seconds.

Preparation & Setup

  • Materials: Grind your herbs to a medium fineness. Material that is too fine will clog the sieve, while material that is too coarse won't provide enough surface area.

  • Filling: Fill the chamber loosely (approx. 70–80%). Do not pack tightly! The hot air must be able to circulate through the herbs.

  • The lighter: Use only a high-quality jet lighter. Cheap models often sputter – an unclean flame doesn't burn the butane completely and distorts the taste.

  • The gas: Use only highly purified gas (at least 7x filtered/refined). Clean gas protects the nozzle of your lighter and your health.

The art of temperature control

Since there's no battery and no buttons, you are the thermostat. You control the temperature using three factors:

  1. Flame size: A small, pointed flame is more precise.

  2. Distance: Hold the flame just in front of or slightly inside the glass opening.

  3. Inhalation speed: Your breath draws in the heat. Slow, steady inhalations generate more heat; faster inhalations slightly cool the airflow.

Care & Longevity

  • Wood care: Wood is a living material. Regularly rub the wooden body with the enclosed Dreamwood Woodwax to prevent cracking and maintain its shine.

  • O-rings: A secret tip for a long service life – treat the O-rings with a tiny amount of wood wax. They remain supple, seal better, and are easier to install.

  • Cleaning: Clean glass tubes regularly in isopropanol. Clean the wood only with a dry cloth, scrape out the steam passage, and wipe with a dry cotton cloth.

Troubleshooting

  • Not much steam? Draw more slowly and for a longer time, reduce the distance between the flame and the glass, or slightly increase the flame intensity.

  • Burnt taste? You've overheated. Increase the distance from the flame or draw a little faster. Briefly stir the herbs after reaching the "hot spot".

  • Is your lighter sputtering? Clean the nozzle or switch to higher-quality, purified gas.

Important information regarding combustion and safety

When using a high-quality jet lighter in combination with highly purified butane gas (filtered at least 7 times), almost complete combustion takes place. Chemically speaking, this means that when the butane reacts cleanly with the oxygen in the ambient air, the only byproducts are water vapor ( H2O ) and a small amount of carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) .

Both are natural components of the air we breathe. With proper handling and clean fuel , no residues or harmful gases remain. Therefore, choosing a quality gas and a reliable, stutter-free lighter is crucial for your enjoyment and your health.
